This walk follows almost the same route as the National Pass but is a little longer as the main section of the track picks its way through the forest at the base of the escarpment, rather than along the claystone ledge above. The ladders down the side of the escarpment are fun (so long as you're not scared of heights) and the pool at the foot of the falls makes for good swimming.
Grade: Hard
Time: 4 hours 30 minutes
Distance: 5.6 kilometre circuit (but feels like more!)
Ascent/Descent: 400 metres descent, 400 metres ascent
Weather: All conditions, but lovely and sheltered on a hot day
Closest public transport: Local bus 685 runs past the corner of Fletcher St and Falls Rd, 500 metres from the picnic area.
Finding the track
From Wentworth Falls railway station, turn right onto the Great Western Highway and then first left into Falls Road. Follow Falls Road for 1.7 kilometres to very end, and then follow signs to your right down to Wentworth Falls Lookout.
